Kallol Datta is unable to come online right now as he is busy with his collection for the Finale!
So what’s the fuss about? What does one expect from his Lakmé Fashion Week Grand Finale collection? For that we will have to wait a little longer. But for now I can help you with a few gems that he pulls out in almost every collection. From alternative music tracks in his shows to bobbing tassels and other details that he uses as statements in his garments, they’re all going to be there.
The Antithesis Overrated Size 0
Known for his destructured and free-form fits, we know for a fact that the man creates for everyone. I have seen his designs being rocked by the lean, curvy and the androgynous. It’s safe to say that getting your fit will never be an issue from this man who doesn’t discriminate against sizes.
The Shapes:
Over the past few collections, Kallol is amongst India’s leading talents that have risen over the “avant garde” track and made fashion accessible to anyone with an individualist taste in expression. Over the past few seasons, he has shown some interesting forms, folds and shapes. So here’s hoping this time will be the same but a little different.
The Walk:
None of the hip thrusted out and the exaggerated crossing of legs for the models in his show. Oh none of that please! Kallol has his girls walk straight, solid and almost zombie like. It always works perfectly for his shows and doesn’t interfere with movement of the garment. And yes, the models will be flat footed. There will be no stilettos or stilts beneath the models feet as usual. He has never shown his garments on models with heels on and there is no reason why that should change.
The Music:
Now all you guys and girls diggin’ those alternative tunes in music, Kallol loves them to. In the past seasons, he has used, Bjork, PJ Harvey, The XX and Florence & the Machine, this time I’m eager to know what’s playing in his little warped brain. PS. Roisin Murphy maybe?
The Details:
Almost every collection in the past has had garments with details such as tie-ups, tassels and pleated fringes. Who knows maybe they will make an appearance again or maybe… just maybe he’ll throw us a new one.
Knowing his mind is comfortable in his own twist and mystery, he will make a statement; whether he likes it or not. The question is, will you be watching to love or be intimidated by it. Either way, feel free to speak up… You’ll only be adding fuel to the fire. Coming up on Race To The Finale With Kallol Datta : Guess what’s cooking?
