Fashion-wise, that is, while promoting her new flick Savages. And her style triumphs become all the more impressive when you hear she has… no stylist!! Yeah, here’s what
Serena van der Woodsen
Blake Lively said to Marie Claire US: “My assistant will call fashion houses for me, but I always pick the outfit, shoes, jewellery, and a lot of times I do my own hair and makeup for events. Maybe it sounds jerky, but I’m lucky to be on such a fashion-centric show [Gossip Girl]. There’s no designer I don’t have access to.” SO, let’s check out her sartorial swishes, shall we?
I was gushing about Salma Hayek-Pinault’s Gucci Première gown, but Blake too wore an interesting couture creation to the LA premiere of Savages. It was a nude strapless tulle gown with a sweetheart neckline, fishtail skirt and some elaborate black beaded embroidery, from Zuhair Murad Spring 2012 Couture. Okay, I didn’t like the gown, it’s too in-your-face ‒ but can’t deny that she looked the sultry screen siren.
Then off she went to New York, where she started the day with an appearance on ‘Good Morning America’ in a crimson red suit from Michael Kors’s Pre Fall 2012 collection. I loved that she gave feminine touches to this predominantly masculine outfit by way of those jaw-droppingly gorgeous footwear. Girlfriends, Christian Louboutin ‘Neuron’ sandals they are ‒ and they’ve been modelled, curiously, on a bird cage.
Next stop was the Ed Sullivan Theatre for a chat at the ‘Late Show with David Letterman’ ‒ and she gave us not one but two wow-some looks! She arrived wearing an oh-so-pretty blush silk chiffon cocktail dress with a crystal-encrusted neckline and cuffs and key-hole detailing, from Jenny Packham’s A/W’12 line. Gotta praise Blake’s attention to detail here: those multi-sized crystal-encrusted Christian Louboutin ‘Pigalle Strass’ pumps nicely caught on the detailing from the dress without looking too matchy-matchy. LOVE!
For the show she swapped the lovely number for a crisp white Marchesa dress with cape-like sleeves and a little shoulder embellishment. Some Lorraine Schwartz sparkles and the same Loubs she walked into the building on, completed her fab look.
Onwards to ‘The Charlie Rose Show’, where I got sooooo excited on seeing a Marios Schwab number on her. (Yeah, I feel like a proud parent every time I spot any of my London designers ‒ Jonathan Saunders, Marios Schwab, Erdem, Roksanda Ilincic, Christopher Kane, Peter Pilotto, Clements Ribiero, J.W. Anderson, Meadham Kirkoff, oh I could go on! ‒ on Hollywood slebs.) The halter-neck Marios Schwab A/W’12 dress with a leather laser-cut floral bodice and bottle green chiffon double-layered skirt was divine! She styled her look with Giuseppe Zanotti bejewelled two-tone bow-accented sandals and a gold clutch. Yet another winning look. NEXT!
She dropped by the ABC Studios looking like a Barbie! It was a custom Lanvin hot pink cloqué silk dress with a bow at the waist, which she paired with Christian Louboutin nude ‘Alti Spike’ platform heels.
Her last stop was the NYC premiere of Savages, where she wowed in a one-of-a-kind pale yellow pleated silk-georgette halter neck gown featuring an open back and a gathered sash waist, from Gucci. (Note: although this gown is a “one-of-its-kind”, it’s not couture like Salma Hayek-Pinault’s Gucci Première(s) ‒ strange considering she’s the face of the fragrance of Gucci Première. If you like, and can cough up the cash, Gucci would make another one this dress for you, but they wouldn’t do so with the Gucci Premières. )
I loved, loved, loved how she styled the gown: with a pair of turquoise drop earrings, matching stack bracelets and fishtail plaits. The turquoise so nicely pops against the pale yellow, blonde locks and dewy skin tone. This whole look… just so summery… and comes across just so effortless!
SO, which one’s your fave look of Blake’s from this whirlwind promotional tour of hers? Mine’s the one in Marios Schwab, followed closely by the one on Gucci.
P.S. I so wished Ryan Reynolds was tagging along in one of the premieres with her!!!!
