Neeta Lulla was quite the anxious mommy yesterday as she eagerly held on to my hand saying, “Sue I get more nervous for Nishka’s shows than my own ya.” It was this family support and enthusiasm for fashion that is clearly evident at Nishka Lulla’s latest Talent Box collection. Talent Box is held at the source where young designers can showcase their collections on a mini scale, a sort of stepping stone to having a full LFW show.
If you’re young or young at heart and have a wedding coming up there are many option that Nishka is offering. She sought inspiration from Peacocks, these were seen as kalamkari motifs all over her saris and lehengas. The Kalamkari work was done by under-privileged girls that Nishka supports, like others in the industry, Nishka feels that these crafts must be passed on. Although her strong suit is the Indian wear, her ready to wear garments also had cute pieces that a lot of girls would love to wear. When asked if Neeta and Nishka bump heads in terms of designing, the answer was most definitely yes. Neeta saying that, Nishka view on design is completely different to hers and that given the same inspiration the collection would be very dissimilar. I caught up with the fresh face these days Shraddha Kapoor and got her take on Nishka’s collection. Check out the video for all that went on at the Talent Box show.
